As an alternative technology to lockout, key in pocket has attracted much attention since it can not only improve work safety and optimize work flow, but also provide convenience for on-site staff and improve work efficiency.
Key in pocket is actually one of the IAM (Industry Access Management) identification access management solutions. It consists of a security controller PSSu or PNOZmulti2 and a reading unit PITreader, which can effectively prevent unauthorized restart of the device and ensure personnel access Safety when performing related operations in hazardous areas.
In essence, it provides a purely electronic restart protection, and the entire safety system meets the requirements of redundancy.
Key in pocket application "three steps"
Step 1: Check in
When entering the danger area, the operator uses the personal electronic key on the PITreader to verify his identity at the safety gate. With the corresponding LED button or PITgatebox, once the user's authority is verified, their ID will be stored in the security list of the corresponding security controller, thus completing the system login action. At this time, the dangerous action of the equipment stops, and the operator can open the safety door and enter the equipment area with his personal electronic key (ie "key in pocket").
Other operators with personal electronic keys can enter the equipment area through the same security door or different security doors in the same check-in method.
Step Two: Check Out
The way of checking out is the same as the way of checking in, the operator can use their personal electronic key to realize the sign out through PITreader, and at the same time, his security ID is removed from the security list of the security controller. only when the safety list is empty, that is, all operators who have entered the equipment area have left, can the equipment be restarted. But before the device restarts, there is another very important step that cannot be ignored!
Step Three: Blind Spot Check
If the equipment itself is large and there is no overall field of vision, a "blind spot inspection" is also required according to 5.2.2 of EN ISO 13849-1. This requires visual inspection of the equipment in hard-to-see areas to confirm "clearance" before restarting the equipment.
Advantages of Key in pocket
Compared with the traditional lockout technology, key in pocket has obvious advantages
●high speed
If someone gets the key back, the system can start quickly; if someone loses the key, the system can block the lost key and rekey
●cost-effective
The Key in pocket solution has more advantages in overall price.
●good flexibility
Compared with the traditional tag-out lock, Key in pocket has better flexibility. It can know the situation of people in the dangerous area of the equipment in real time, and there is no need to consider how many people can enter the equipment area, because the permissions can be temporarily blocked. More importantly, the same person does not need to enter and exit through the same safety door, which greatly improves the work efficiency of personnel.
The Key in pocket solution can well protect the safety of operators and machinery and equipment, and it is also a perfect embodiment of Pilz's overall safety concept.
