At the end of March, the Dadu River Zhentouba II Hydropower Station and the Shaping I Hydropower Station of the National Energy Group successfully closed the cofferdams simultaneously, setting a record for the synchronous closure of two large-scale cascade hydropower projects in the same river basin in China, and made a useful exploration for the development of hydropower projects in my country.

The Dadu River Zhentouba Class II and Shaping Class I hydropower projects are located in the Jinkouhe District of Leshan City in the lower reaches of the Dadu River. They are key construction projects in the "14th Five-Year Plan" of Sichuan Province. The total installed capacity of the Zhentouba II Hydropower Station is 300 MW, and the Shaping I Hydropower Station has a total installed capacity of 360 MW. After being put into operation, they can save more than 1 million tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2 million tons each year. The two large-scale hydropower stations have achieved important node goals such as simultaneous approval, simultaneous start of construction, simultaneous first-phase cofferdam closure, and simultaneous second-phase closure.

It is understood that this synchronous closure marks that the construction of the two projects has shifted to the construction stage of the second phase of the dam and the main work of the plant, creating conditions for the first unit to be put into operation in 2025.
